Right Pillion Peg
Front Power Outlet Finished
Leo Vince Exhaust
My Leo Vince is a Titanium version and puts out a lot of heat at the muffler (single wall). I believe I am going to have to put reflective, heat proof material, on the bottom of the right saddle bag .
Here a farkle there a farkle! Added some bits and pieces to the GTR.
A recent ride with my better half as pillion resulted in the pillion pegs proving-
- Too high
- Quite slippery
- Too small
A browse of the WEB to MCLarry reveals many items I want. Only some of course, I can have, at this point in time.
A selection here and a selection there, with a good read to make sure I am getting what I want. Check out time and PAYPAL is my transaction handler of choice. USPS (Postal Service) is MCLarry's preferred method of sending (that's good). There tracking system is excellent. It all arrives within a few days.
Pillion Pegs - Nice billet aluminium with pegs fitted (as Larry stated). They look very nice. I have to take to the right one with the angle grinder to clear my aftermarket exhaust. The left one is fine. Fitting is easy after the grinding is completed.
No road test yet. I have had a seat and they feel good with plenty of boot space, good grip and pushing the legs out and down. Comfort and access should be improved.
NOTE - The right hand peg has minimal clearance to the exhaust pipe (just before the muffler start). The aluminium will pick up exhaust heat, so I will keep an eye on heat transfer. Might make for a warm tootsie.
Nice and well made. I hope the 2010 versions are around 10-15 mm shorter.
Handle Bar Risers - Ordered with the accessory of RAM MOUNT ball mounts. Fitted easily with quality bits and pieces supplied. The right riser fitting causes a slight tension in the brake line from the handle bar to the riser mount. Not an issue but can be relieved with "Dremel Action" on a supplied mounting tab or drill and tap the right riser in the same manner as the left.
The risers are excellent. In standard form my wrists loaded up and I was in pain after about 30 minutes. The risers address this issue and also make the screen more functional and effective.
I also added a set of foam throttle grips over the originals. Hands are now out in the breeze a little as well.
Battery Maintenance - I had the dealer supply and fit up a CTEK battery maintainer. Nice wiring job and the CTEK works well. A worthwhile consideration if you want to improve battery life. The GTR is not ridden regularly so the CTEK makes sure there are no flat batteries or excessive battery discharge.
Power Outlets - The GTR already has one available. A read of the manual reveals that there are outlets for another two. One in the left fairing and one in the tail of the motorcycle behind the engine computer.
Out with the tools - A good reference for finding these outlets is Fred Harmon. Nice pictures on how to find them.
After getting the various bits off and locating the outlets some time was spent wiring. I changed the factory fittings because I used a heavier wire for my wiring. I also use Silicon spray on the electrical bits.
All the outlets are now powered on and off by the key. They are meant to be used for running and charging small - low current draw devices - GPS - Phones - UHF CB - Bluetooth devices. Not for heated clothing or high amp draw items.
I just need to purchase one x toolbox mounting bolt (dropped the bolts behind the petrol tank mounting, only found 3 of 4) and one of those black "pin things". ( I dropped one half of it. My eyes are getting a little old and I reckon it "fled", deciding not to be found).
All went well.
